  • Q: What if I don't have a roommate but would like one?

    We offer roommate matching.  We will use your roommate questionnaire to match you with a roommate based on study and social habits.

  • Q: What is a Guarantor?

    A guarantor is someone 21 years or older who is willing to co-sign on your apartment with you. They need to pass a credit check in order to qualify as your guarantor. If you are 21 or over, you may apply to be your own guarantor.

  • Q: How do I get approved for an apartment?

    If you are under 21, the first step is having a guarantor (see above) complete the guarantor application. You will then need to submit your application and roommate questionnaire.  We will first run a credit check on your guarantor.  They will need a credit score of 600 or higher to qualify as your co-signer.  We will then run a criminal background check for the applicant.

     

    If you are over 21, you can apply as your own guarantor as long as your credit score is at least 600.  If you cannot meet the credit score requirement, you will need a guarantor.

  • Q: How does pricing compare to living on campus?

    Pricing is very comparable to other off-campus housing as well as on-campus housing. The rent includes many expenses that residents would pay extra for in other housing, such as heat, cable, high-speed internet, laundry, hot water, use of fitness facilities and other entertainment.

     

  • Q: What is an individual lease?

    Collegiate Village of Potsdam apartment leases are for each individual person in an apartment, not the apartment as a whole. This means you don’t have to worry about being held responsible for one of your roommate’s rent if they don’t pay.

     

  • Q: What does "furnished" apartments mean?

    CVP provides the following in each bedroom: A full size bed, mattress, headboard, chest of drawers, desk and chair. In each living room/dining room: A refrigerator, oven/range, kitchen island with 3 bar stools, sofa, side chair, end table, coffee table, and entertainment center.

  • Q: Are pets allowed?

    Unfortunately we do not allow pets at Collegiate Village of Potsdam.

  • Q: Can I pay using financial aid?

    Yes.  All  college students will be on a monthly payment plan until the rent deferral has been approved. To be approved for the financial aid program.

     

  • Q. Does Collegiate Village Potsdam allow  Co-Ed roommates?

    We will only place you in an apartment with residents of the same gender. However you are allowed Co-ed roommates providing all occupants agree before signing the lease.

  • Q: Who can lease at Collegiate Village of Potsdam?

    Collegiate Village of Potsdam is an off-campus student housing community but we do cater to professionals and other non-students as well. Students with families are welcome and we also provide housing for college and university staff.

  • Q: What do the prices include?

    The prices include your heat, internet, cable, furnishings, brand new appliances, and access to our Community Center and amenities.

  • Q: Do you allow summer leases?

    Typically we do if we have the availability. Please call the office for more details.
